    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I turn the service on?

The service is on the day you move in. You can speak with your Concierge on upgrading the service or call 1-855-DO-FIBER to upgrade to a higher speed.

Does Fiber Fast Homes provide bundles for cable and phone? How do I watch TV?

Get the TV experience you want through our Fiber Fast Homes Concierges. By coming to your home or meeting over the phone (your choice), they will create and set up a custom plan of all the channels (including local). Our streaming services give you exactly what you want. You no longer have to overpay with cable on hundreds of channels you never watch. Those days are long gone.

Is there any other special equipment I need to buy?
Good news: you don’t. Your Fiber Fast Home comes with your wifi and modem already installed.
I love gaming and work from home. I also have three kids who do not watch what I watch. How do I know which package and speed is right for me?
Great question. See our handy guide to finding the speed you need.
Can I hardwire my computers and TV so they don’t have to connect through wifi?
Absolutely! Fiber Fast Homes can be equipped with Cat 6 wiring so you can hardwire your TVs, computers and any home automation products you want to use.
How do I make sure my Wi-Fi is secure?

First and foremost, make sure your password is protected so only those given permission may access your wifi. All Fiber Fast Homes Wi-Fi routers are equipped with password protection. We recommend you use a password that meets these standards by visiting this link. https://spycloud.com/new-nist-guidelines/

    What does symmetrical service mean?

Symmetrical bandwidth means you get equal upload and download speeds. Most people tend to use more download bandwidth than upload bandwidth. But if you often share large files, upload videos or have a lot of content existing in the cloud, you might want to pay more attention to upload speeds.

What is Gigabit Internet? How are internet speeds measured?

Gigabit Internet service transmits data up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps), or 1,000 megabits per second. Internet speed is measured in three different ways: download speed, upload speed and latency.

Download is measured in Mega bits per second (Mbps). It’s the rate used to measure how fast data is downloaded to your device. Simply put, the higher the better.

Upload is also measured in Mbps. It’s the rate used to measure how fast you can upload a file to the internet from your device. This number is typically lower but higher numbers are good too. If you have a high-speed connection like fiber to your house or business, it can be as fast as the download speed.

Latency is how quickly data is moved across a network from point a to b. The lower the number, the better.

What’s the difference between a gigabit and a megabit?

First, it’s important to know the difference between gigabits and gigabytes (or in more rudimentary terms, bit and byte). A bit measures data transfer rates over a network. For example, a gigabit connection transmits data at one billion bits per second. This is incredibly fast bandwidth that translates to much less lag time when streaming videos, video gaming or using immersive media such as VR requiring much higher data capacity than most.

A byte measures the amount of storage available on computing devices such as tablets, smartphones, laptops, gaming consoles, cloud storage or other hardware devices. A gigabyte is roughly one billion bytes. In terms of memory space, one gigabyte of space would hold approximately 312 MP3 songs, or 535 ebooks (based on the average 1.87 MB Kindle ebook file size).

The internet delivers bytes of data over the network, but it delivers them as single bits at a time. Hence, this is why internet speed is measured in bits—it’s more accurate to measure internet speed through the number of bits per second that a connection transmits. For further reference, 1 byte is made up of 8 bits.

Giga is a unit prefix (just like mega is) used in computing and telecommunications to denote a quantity. Quite simply, a gigabit connection exponentially delivers many more bits per second than a megabit connection does (1 gigabit=1000 megabits), just like a gigabyte contains exponentially many more bytes of storage space than a megabyte does (1 gigabyte=1000 megabytes).

What’s the difference between the Concierge and the support team?

The Concierge helps sets you up with the best TV-watching and phone experience based on your needs and wants. The Support Team meanwhile is who you should call when you need to change your billing information, upgrade your plan or ask questions about Fiber Fast Homes’ services.

What is Fiber to the Door?

Fiber to the Door (FTTD) is the installation and use of optical fiber that provides high-speed Internet access from a central point directly to individual buildings, such as your Fiber Fast Home. FTTD offers speeds up to 100 times as fast as cable or DSL connections. FTTD is sometimes referred to as Fiber to the Home or Fiber to the Premises,
